So I promised in my The Seven: Natural Beauty Alternatives
article that I would do a post on a miracle facemask, so here it is.
Like I said in the article, I had a horrible breakout after
I tried the Oil Cleansing Method and no matter what I did, it completely
refused to clear. And you can imagine
that as an actress, it was especially excruciating.
So about 2 weeks ago, my cousin/bestie Anita Nkatha started
a 1 week water intake challenge dubbed #titasdetoxchallenge. The challenge had us drink at least 3 liters
of water a day and a cup of green tea each evening. Now I definitely hadn’t been drinking 3
litres a day before this challenge and I found that drinking that much water
was well……CHALLENGING. So I developed
little tips and tricks to help me through the week and I am proud to say that
not only did I succeed, but I am planning on making it a long term lifestyle
change. Here they are:

KARURA FOREST
Situated in the serene
Muthaiga suburb, Karura Forest has long been a favorite amongst nature lovers
and fitness enthusiasts. Its expansive
trails- some as long as 4 kms- guarantee that you can keep coming back and
always have a new trail to explore. Its so big in fact, you are encouraged to
buy a trail map at the entrance. For the
bike riders out there, bikes are readily available for hire.
And once you have finished your workout, you can make
your way to their beautiful picnic sites for a quick snack or enjoy the various
waterfalls found within the serene forest.
You’ve heard this before; ‘You can’t truly love anyone until
you love yourself first’. And when you
hear it, it seems so obvious; common sense right? And so you go about your life giving out all
this love because you are sure you’ve left enough for yourself. But have you
really?
I’m learning (the hard way) that you can give so much of yourself
to people that your love turns into your poison. And I know to my fellow people pleasers this
is hard to hear. After all we never want
to be the one to say no to someone or God forbid hurt someone’s feelings. But I’m discovering that not having
boundaries and demands as to how you expect to be treated, is not only unfair
to yourself, but is also unfair to the people who truly love you.
Anyone who is in the entertainment industry or intimately
knows someone in the industry knows that life in this industry is made up of a
series of colorful jobs, colorful people and very colorful audition. I recently attended a pretty colorful
audition and I thought I’d share.
The audition is question was a well-publicized audition at
KNT for an African reality show centered on actors. When I first heard about it I thought it was
an
Handbags. They mystify men, they make a fashion statement, and most of all they are lifesavers. I love being a woman for quite a few reasons, but the freedom to carry every single thing I could possibly need for any occasion in something that also makes you look cute is definitely one of them. However there are 8 things that will ALWAYS have a special place in my handbag and should have a place in yours too.

1. Turmeric
Because of its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, turmeric
has been used to treat various skin ailments for centuries all around the
world. It also regulates the production
of sebum, which for the oily skinned people like me, is heaven. I started using Turmeric when I made the
mistake of trying the oil cleansing method and having the worst acne breakout
I’ve ever had (Disclamier: OCM works for some people but 100% did not work for
me).
So I’m currently in a new relationship and in many ways it’s the first real relationship I’ve truly wanted to be in. And yes, it has taken me 24 good LONG years to get there. But surprisingly, I’m perfectly fine with that. See what I’ve realized as I’ve gone through this adventure called life, is that things come to you when you are really and truly ready for them. This whole, rushing towards something you aren’t in alignment with, is really not a good idea. Trust me. And as happy as I am to start this new journey, I AM LITERALLY THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE IVE EVER BEEN.
